Chicks

We went to my school today to visit the hatching chicks. This is my first year having chicks in my classroom and I wanted to check and see how they were doing. I am up to three  chicks. Now, I am not a huge animal person. So, I was pretty proud of myself that I actually touched the chicks and moved them from the incubator to the brooder box. I gave my kids the opportunity to hold the chicks. Caleb wanted to cuddle the chick when we talked about it, but when I gave him the chance he wanted help. He was happy petting the chick and observing it. Kendall, on the other hand, is a girl of my own heart. She wanted nothing to do with the chicks. This picture was taken right after Kendall touched the chick...and shockingly it moved. We finished the day playing on the playground. Another fun day at our house!

Play 'Til You Drop

Caleb continued to practice bike riding today. He is actually getting better and only fell one time today. You can see Kendall behind him. She did not do well at all, and her bike ended up back in the truck. Caleb biked about a mile today which is amazing, considering he truly couldn't pedal a month ago. I am very proud of him. He also enjoyed climbing trees at the park today. After the park, we ran to the store to do some grocery shopping...Caleb fell asleep sitting up in the back of the cart. So, I gave him my bag as a pillow and he slept through the entire shopping trip. That was one tired little boy!



Spring has Sprung!

It was a gorgeous morning today. We went out at 9:00 to spend the morning at the park. Caleb has been struggling learning how to ride a bike. He is now 5, and it is a challenge for him. We have spent endless hours this spring working on pedaling. So, for this trip to the park we met his friend who is 7 years old and an expert bike rider. I was hoping this might give him some motivation to give biking another try. It WORKED! Caleb was very excited to have a new bike riding buddy. He worked very hard and ended up biking all around the park. He is still very nervous about biking. It was very funny, he went a snails pace and would often throw on the brakes because he was going 'too fast.' Too fast being...me walking at a normal pace. But, that was fine by me, at least he was moving. Last weekend, the only movement that happened on the bike was when I pushed him. So, this is huge progress for him. I think the park motivated him as well, because they do sculptures at the park each year and many new sculptures were up. So,  we stopped at each one and looked at them. Kendall had fun running ahead and waiting for Caleb. This picture of her was when she hid under a strange cement wall. We stayed at the park riding and playing for 3 hours. What a wonderful morning!

I'm Back!

I have been thinking about this blog for awhile now. I am going to try to get back on here and write as well as add pictures. It has been a while and a lot has happened. I don't think I will go back in time and catch up, but will just start up again. Enjoy!

The Relatives Came

We had such fun last night when April came with her crew of kids. Caleb thinks that his cousins are great! The kids stayed up until 1:30 a.m. playing with each other and were in good moods this morning too. Here are a few pictures that my nephew Shane, a budding photographer, took to capture the evening.

Snow

The snow has come in full force. It is wonderful powdery snow-great for sledding or skiing but not great for snowball fights or snowmen. This is really Kendall's first year playing in the snow and to put it lightly she absolutely detests it. Definitely a mommy's girl in this area. The second we start putting on all of our winter gear the tears begin and then she tends to just lay down and cry outside instead of playing. Caleb, on the other hand, thinks that snow is nature's best sandbox. He made snow angels (I CANNOT believe he remembered this from last year), tried his best to make a snowman-it was about 2 inches tall, and loves to just roll around in the snow because apparently snow is fun.

Blankies

Well, if anyone even checks this after a month or two being down I am super impressed! So, blankies. Both my kids have a blankie fetish. Caleb calling his favorite blanket, "blankie #2" and Kendall calling hers, "night night." Here they are with their blankets in absolute heaven because I let them have their prized possessions out of their beds. The fact that they are both smiling and are looking at the camera is amazing unto itself!
